Discarded West Indies wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin has been penalised by the West Indies Cricket Board for his Twitter rant last week announcing his sacking from the Test squad.

Discarded West Indies wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin has been penalised by the West Indies Cricket Board for his Twitter rant last week announcing his sacking from the Test squad.

The WICB said that the Trinidadian’s actions had been in contravention of its policy and had moved to impose sanctions on the player.

“Denesh Ramdin had expressed dissatisfaction with his non-selection on the Test squad for the upcoming series against India on social media last week, following dialogue with the chairman of selectors,” the WICB said in a statement.

“This was in breach of the WICB policy and the terms of his retainer contract. As a consequence, Ramdin has since been sanctioned.” The release did not state the nature of the sanction.

Ramdin is no stranger to outbursts. Reacting to Viv Richards’s criticism of him during the three-Test series against England in 2012, Ramdin pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket with ‘Yeh Viv, Talk Nah’ written on it after he had scored his second career Test century at Edgbaston.

Ramdin was fined 20% of his match fee for the act and later apologised for what he had called an emotional act. Ramdin is currently representing Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL.
