Australia batsman David Warner is likely to miss his team’s first practice match ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka after sustaining a finger injury during the recently concluded tri-series in the West Indies.

The left-hander, who had to return home mid-way through the tri-series, is expected to return to the side for the first Test in Kandy, set to start on July 26. The Australian opener was in superb form before injuring his left index fielder during a match against South Africa at St Kitts. He had led Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory in the Indian Premier League 2016, finishing as the second-highest run-getter with 848 runs.
