Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Saturday came in support of the Indian team, saying they were well within their rights to make use of the home advantage during the South Africa series.
Reacting on the pitch talk, Harbhajan said, “The Indian pitches assist spinners and there is nothing new about it.
“The host countries take advantage of home conditions and it happens across the world. If not the home country, who is suppose to take benefit of it In India, the balls turn and it is happening for some good years now,” Harbhajan said the launch of online portal BookMySports.
Asked about his position on the flip-flopping of boards on the controversial series between India and Pakistan, and whether he sees the series taking place later this month, the 35-year old played it safe and said “it was for the board to decide, and not the players”.
“As a player, we follow whatever the board tells us. The Indian Cricket board is a parent to all of us (cricketers). It is their call,” said India’s leading Test wicket-taker in spin.
Harbhajan, whose match-winning 10-wicket haul helped Punjab seal a berth in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final, said he was ready to grab every opportunity coming his way.
“I am playing regularly. So, be it the upcoming series in Australia or the World T20, I want to make sure that I am up for it. I am ready to face any challenge and obviously performing in Ranji does help,” he said.
