A late flourish from Raphi Gomez and Padmanabhan Prasanth helped Kerala upset Baroda by four wickets in a Group A clash of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 tournament’s super league at Wankhede Stadium here on Saturday.
Chasing 161, Kerala were reduced to 15/3 as Irfan Pathan removed Sanju Samson (0) and Rohan Prem (6). But skipper Sachin Baby (44) steadied the innings with a 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Nikhilesh Surendran (36).
Kerala were still under pressure but a 45-run partnership in 17 balls between Gomez and Prasanth (17 not out) turned the game.
Prasanth who picked 2/15 with the ball hit two sixes in the penultimate over to ease the equation. Gomez finished the match with a six to stay unbeaten on 47 off 21 balls. Scores
