Eoin Morgan couldn’t believe his eyes

Carlos Brathwaite’s last over heroics crushed England in the ICC World Twenty20 final here at Eden Gardens on Sunday. The West Indian smashed four sixes in a row to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. England skipper Eoin Morgan is still in a state of shock. “I am not sure what I am feeling at the moment. I still don’t believe what happened,” he said after the four-wicket loss to the West Indies. “It is cruel but we were probably 40 runs short,” he added.
But Morgan reiterated that he is a proud skipper as World T20 staged a new beginning for England — a young side, a team in the making. “Irrespective of the result, I am proud of my players. Ben (Stokes) will be devastated for a couple of days but we share everything. We work as a unit,” said Morgan.
The skipper praised Joe Root’s all-round show in the final. “Joe is incredibly talented. He keeps things simple.”
