Mr Winterkorn quit his post at Audi on Wedne-sday, a spokesman at the Ingolstadt-based carmaker said on Thursday, after resigning as chief executive of family-owned Porsche SE, VW’s majority stakeholder, in October.
The 68-year-old Winter-korn was forced to resign as VW group CEO by the carmaker’s influential labour leaders and Lower Saxony, VW’s second largest shareholder, on September 23, five days after its rigging of diesel emissions tests became public in the United States.
