Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, facing probe in a loan default case of IDBI Bank, is believed to have left the country in spite of a look-out notice against him by the CBI.
The CBI officials, however, were tight-lipped and refused to reveal the date on which look-out notice was issued against Mr Mallya.
The agency has also asked the rest of the 17 banks which had given loans to now defunct Kingfisher Airlines to declare these loans as fraud, after which it can take over probe in their cases as well.
Sources claimed the agency had taken all legally-permissible precautions including issuance of look-out notices to all exit points from the country to prevent any such move on part of Mr Mallya but he still managed to escape.
Sources said look-out notices are issued to alert immigration officials to prevent any person facing probe from leaving the country.
Meanwhile, CBI is now preparing to send a judicial request to the UK to get details about certain transactions made by Kingfisher Airlines.
