While the domestic equity markets snapped their four-day losing streak on Friday led by small and mid-cap stocks amidst recovery in global sto-cks, the Sensex and Nifty recorded their worst weekly loss in last four years. On a weekly basis, the Sensex and Nifty have posted a loss of 4.7 per cent, their worst performance since November 2011.

Experts said short covering in the derivative segments helped the markets to post marginal gains on Friday. The Sensex gained 82.50 points while the Nifty rose 33.05 points.

“Macroeconomic data trend in global markets, foreign investment, rupee movement and crude oil prices will dictate the market trend in the near term,” said Vivek Gupta, director research, CapitalVia Global Research Ltd.
