The amendment to the Land Acquisition Act is expected to help the renewable energy projects but state government will have to come forward to reduce the time taken for the development, process and procedures for land acquisition.
Adani Enterprise Ltd along with global solar technology manufacturer, SunEdison, has announced an investment of $4 billion in solar PV manufacturing facility in Gujarat, while Suzlon has expressed its intent to develop clean energy projects in Gujarat of over 3,000 mw over the next five years.
However Suzlon group chairman Tulsi Tanti said a major bottleneck for the implementation of renewable energy projects is financing and long-term funding in the case of the life time of a wind turbine. He said presently they face a huge problem for timely and quality finance even for a 50mw or 100mw project and suggested that some funding could come from the National Clean Energy Fund. He has also written to the government and the banks suggesting a five per cent interest intervention to bring down the cost of projects.
