Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday unveiled stunning urban blue concept Ignis and concept Baleno RS at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. Both these vehicles are expected to be launched around the festival season this year to maintain its lead in India’s auto market.
While the Ignis is positioned as a smart urban compact car, the Baleno RS is a sporty version of the company’s premium hatchback Baleno, which will be powered by a one-litre Boosterjet direct injection turbo engine.
“Concept Ignis and concept Baleno RS are our two new offerings for India. These will appeal to the third generation Maruti Suzuki customers. The production models of both models will be launched in the NEXA channel,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and chief executive officer, Maruti Suzuki India.
Maruti also showcased a new generation platform that will be the base for many of the company’s future products. Mr Ayukawa said this will be light weight, stronger and will deliver higher driving performance.
