Force Motors Started New Plant In Chakan, Pune
The new manufacturing unit is dedicated towards production of engines and axles for Mercedes-Benz on contract manufacturing.
The new plant by Force Motors has been inaugurated by Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and will supply engines and axles to Mercedes-Benz India. Force Motors received an investment of Rs 100 crore and is entailed for another two years with 700 crore investment. The plant being located in Chakan, Pune, also has its manufacturing house nearby.
The manufacturing unit will exclusively build both four- and 6-cylinder (V-type) petrol and diesel engines for Mercedes-Benz along with front and rear axles of most of the models. Spread over 1,30,000 sq ft, the current annual production capacity of the unit is 20,000 engines and an equal number of front and rear axles. It can be further extended if demand from the German automaker rises.
The company has been in association with Mercedes-Benz since the past 45 years. Force Motors has been manufacturing engines for the German automaker’s Indian-made vehicles since 1997 and till now has supplied more than 60,000 engines and 50,000 axle units to Mercedes-Benz India. Force Motors also produces engines for Mercedes-Benz’s rival, BMW, in India at its Chennai facility, which is close to BMW’s manufacturing unit located there.
