E-commerce player Flipkart on Friday announced an investment of $2 billion in five years to ramp us its logistics network.
Speaking on the sidelines of launch of Flipkart’s Fulfillment Centre (FC) in Hyderabad, the company’s co-founder and COO Binny Bansal said, “We’ll be investing a significant amount, approximately $2 billion in the next five years to ramp up our logistics network and strengthen lastmile delivery.”
In line with this, the company announced an invetsment of $500 million to total its FC count in India to 100. Currently, it stands at 17 with most of them in Southern India. “South India has been our biggest market contributing to 40 per cent of our sales,” Mr Bansal added.
The company plans to have a Fulfillment Centres each in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kolkata and Assam.
