RBI to issue new Rs 10 notes in chocolate brown colour

Mumbai: RBI to shortly issue Rs 10 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series, bearing signature of RBI Governor Urjit patel.

RBI has already printed around 1 billion pieces of the new Rs 10 note with chocolate brown colour bearing the picture of Konark Sun Temple.

The new note will have the same height of 63mm as the current ten rupee note but the width will be 123 mm - slightly lesser than the 137 mm width of the existing note.

Other features of the new not include, a see-through register with denominational numeral 10. 2. The new note will continue to have windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions 'Bharat (in devnagri).

All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 issued by RBI in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.

In August last year, RBI had introduced the new Rs 200 and Rs 50 notes under the Mahatma Gandhi series.
