Mumbai: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited says it is offering up to 300 GB data at a faster download speed of 2 Mbps under a broadband scheme for Rs 249, according to a report in NDTV.

The move can be attributed to as one of the steps that all the incumbent telecom operators have been taking to propel the tough competition from Reliance Jio that has threatened their existence.

"In its 'BB Unlimited 249' plan, BSNL is enabling its customers to download unlimited broadband data by paying 'just Rs 249 monthly' for up to 300 GB of data every month," the state-owned telecom company said on its website.

Under the latest offering of BSNL's unlimited broadband, a 10 GB data at a faster download speed of 2 Mbps will be offered everyday for Rs 249. Beyond that the download speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps, NDTV quoted a customer care executive as saying.

The report said if a user is unable to use the entire 10 GB data on a particular day, then the balance data will be transferred to the next day for use. The download speed of 10 Mbps will be reduced to 1 Mbps if a user consumes all of 10 GB data in a day, BSNL said.
