Benelli’s new bikes off to a racing start

Benelli India is in its second innings in India after it discontinued with Pune-based DSK Group.

Pune: Benelli, the Italian super sportsbike legendary marquee brand, has sold 150 units of its adventure tourer models called Benelli TRK 502 and Benelli TRK 502X motorcycles priced at Rs 5 lakh and Rs 5.40 lakh respectively within 15 days of their launch in the country.

The company sold 85 units of the Benelli TRK 502X and 65 units of the TRK 502 models with a down payment of Rs 10,000 each. The two bikes were launched in February 18.

The Benelli TRK 502 and TRK 502X compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Versys X-300 and the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure on the Indian roads.

 "We are delighted to receive record bookings for the Benelli TRK 502X and Benelli TRK 502 models within a short period of the launch and this has boosted our confidence towards launching new models in India in the near future," Vikas Jhabakh, Managing Director at Benelli India, said.

The middle weight, adventure motorcycles share the same frame and engine except the X that is off-road biased among the two.

In fact, the TRK 502X has also been spotted testing in India recently.

Both bikes are powered by the same 499.6cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that develops 47.6PS and 45Nm, mated to a six-speed transmission.

Benelli India is in its second innings in India after it discontinued with Pune-based DSK Group.

Under the leadership of Adishwar Auto Ride India belonging to Mahavir Group, the company plans to ramp up dealership network to 40 by the end of 2019.

At present Benelli India has added eight new dealers in Vijayawada, Goa, Delhi, Mangalore, Kolkata, Guwahati, Vadodara and Chennai taking the tally to 18 dealerships across India.

Benelli sells five models in India. These superbikes encompass the TNT 300 - In-line two-cylinder 300cc engine, 302R - In-line two-cylinder 300cc engine, the TNT 600i - In-line four-cylinder 600cc engine and the newly launched TRK 502 and TRK 502X - In-line two-cylinder 500cc engine.
