In India, the Honda Dio has managed to be the fourth best selling scooter on sale, despite newer and more exuberant options.

Even though the Activa is Honda’s most popular scooter in India, it was the Dio that captured the youth’s hearts. On sale since 2002, Honda has sold more than 30 lakh units of the Dio till now. The Dio is not only popular in India, but also in South Asian and Latin american markets.

Even though the Activa has been its highest selling scooter, it was the Dio that worked wonders for Honda in India with the youthful buyer. After going on sale in 2002, the Dio has managed to chalk up a sales figure of 30 lakh units. What has helped its cause is that the Dio not only manages to speak to the Indian audiences but also in other South Asian and Latin American markets.

In India, the Dio has managed to be the fourth best selling scooter on sale, despite newer and more exuberant options -- like the TVS NTorq 125 and Honda Grazia 125 (which offer better performance as well as features than the Dio) -- on sale currently. It manages to stay relevant even in 2019 as Honda kitted it out with LED lighting, an all-digital instrument cluster and a remote seat unlock option. New colours did liven up its appeal with snazzy graphics and coloured rims.

Here is what the company’s official press statement on the achievement says:

The world is all yours, when you’re Dio’ing the new way
