Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has updated its popular YZF-R15 with Auto Headlamp-On (AHO) feature. The motorcycle now won't have the headlight on/off switch as the lights will automatically turn on as soon as you turn on the ignition. However, it will have the low/high beam switch to manually adjust the direction of the light. Both the variants -- YZF-R15 S single seat and the YZF-R15 Version 2.0 split seat -- will be equipped with this feature.

Keeping in mind the safety rules for two-wheelers, Yamaha has updated its popular YZF-R15 with the Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature. Now, the bike will no longer have the headlight on/off switch since the light will come to life automatically as soon as you turn on the ignition. It will, however, continue to feature the low-high beam switch for you to manually adjust the direction of the light. The AHO has been equipped in both the variants (YZF-R15 S single seat and the YZF-R15 Version 2.0 split seat) of the fully-faired 150cc sportbike.

The government has passed a regulation which states that all two-wheelers need to have the Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) feature from April 2017. Hero MotoCorp was the first home-grown bike maker to incorporate this safety feature early on with the Splendor iSmart 11

The Yamaha YZF-R15 was India's first entry level track-focused motorcycle and is still popular – eight years down the line, mind you – among riders. Mechanically, nothing has been changed and the bike continues to draw power from the 149cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve engine that pumps out 17PS of power and 15Nm of peak torque. The motor comes coupled with a six-speed gearbox.

The Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 and the YZF-R15 S have been priced at Rs 1.15 and 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. The bike will continue to go up against the likes of the Honda CBR 150R and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
