Tata’s upcoming 7-seater SUV has been spotted testing multiple times recently. However, Tata has now given us a glimpse of what the final production-spec version of the SUV will look before its reveal at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

To be based on the same OmegaARC platform as the Harrier.

Will sit above the Harrier in terms of pricing.

Will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show on March 5.

After being spotted testing in India on numerous occasions, Tata Motors has given us the first official glimpses on its new 7-seater SUV, which will be revealed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month.

Based on the same OmegaARC platform as the Tata Harrier, the all-new SUV is a 7-seater version of the Harrier and is based on the H7X concept. While it will be more or less similar to the Harrier in terms of design, what we can make out from the spy pictures and the teaser released today is the altered design of the D-pillar and the boot.

The new SUV looks to have a more upright and boxy design and also gets roof rails, which are not offered on the Harrier. The boot has also been redesigned and we can spot a much larger windshield at the rear to make it roomier inside. The new SUV is likely to have the same wheelbase as the Harrier, which is the best in segment at 2741mm. However, it could be a tad longer to accommodate an extra row of seating inside. The test mule spotted earlier has also hinted at larger 18-inch alloy wheels for the upcoming SUV.

Under the bonnet, the new SUV will pack the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that we’ve seen in the Harrier. However, it is likely to be tuned to make more power and torque (173PS/350Nm instead of 140PS/350Nm). The Harrier’s elder brother will be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox alongside a 6-speed torque converter automatic as well.

Tata is also likely to christen the upcoming SUV with a different name as well. While there are no confirmations on what it could be called, the name Buzzard is currently the front runner. We can expect the new SUV from Tata to be launched in India by the end of 2019. Given the Harrier’s impeccable pricing, it could retail between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). We will have all the details on the H7X-based SUV, which will debut along with the Altroz and two other offerings (the Hornbill micro SUV and an all-electric hatchback) at the Geneva Motor Show.
