New Delhi: McGraw Hill Education India has launched the 2017 edition of General Studies Manual, Paper-1 for UPSC aspirants. The revised and updated version contains the details of latest developments and events in every field.

The book was unveiled on Wednesday by chief guest Dr Arvind Panagariya, vice-chairman of NITI Aayog and Kaushik Bellani, MD, McGraw Hill Education India and SAARC at Press Club of India, Delhi. The guide has been co-authored by 11 leading subject specialists.

The GS manual is systematically structured by treating each subject as a whole, and then organising the relevant information in such a way so as to cater to the specific needs of the readers. Each subject has been developed by a specialist trained in teaching that subject. The section on ‘Current Events’ of national and international importance has been updated till August 2016, which gives a complete panorama of national and international affairs.

Dr Panagariya said, “The book is of great benefit to the new generation and I wish we had such self-help books while we were preparing for the services. All the authors of the book have done great work and have contributed immensely to revise the book. I congratulate them on the launch and wish them all success”.

In his comments, Mr Bellani said, “General Studies Paper 1 Manual has been the key for civil service aspirants since the last 33 years. The new and improvised version is compiled by a galaxy of well-known subject experts and aims to prepare students as per the changed syllabus”. He added, “It is our committed endeavour to provide a strategic direction to the civil services aspirants and we hope the book proves to be a crucial tool in every student’s journey of preparing for the exams”.

The updated version of the book is in bi-colour with more boxes and illustrations for greater recall value. It has larger chapters divided into smaller modules ending with practice questions for easier understanding. The self-study guide is easy and accessible and well-placed to help UPSC aspirants prepare thoroughly.
