Launching a veiled attack on his ‘dear friend’ Raj Thackeray and his party’s (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) stand against Pakistani artistes, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan (aka Bhai) on Friday said that Pakistan artistes should not be treated like terrorists. “In fact, art and terrorism should not be mixed together at all,” he said.

The Bollywood superstar added that they (Pakistani actors) are mere artistes and not terrorists. “Terrorism and art are two different subjects,” he reiterated. However, the MNS was in no mood to listen to the 51-year-old actor’s advice. The party, in fact, upped its ante stating that they would “bash up” all Pakistani artistes in Mumbai.

The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) on Thursday passed a resolution banning all Pakistani actors from the industry in the wake of the Uri attack in which 18 soldiers were martyred. The resolution came after the Indian Army announced that the special forces had targeted seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir during a “surgical strike”.

Talking about the surgical strikes, Mr Khan said that the action (surgical strike) taken by the Indian Army was correct as it was against terrorism.

“The ideal situation should have been that of peace. But now a reaction to an action has happened. It was a proper action as they were terrorists. But still in this day and age, I think if we can live in peace and harmony, it is better for everyone, especially the common people,” he said.

Although the actor’s close pal Raj Thackeray refrained from giving any comments, MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Amey Khopkar said, “If we find any Pakistani artiste working here, we will beat them up. We will also not spare those employing Pakistani artistes. We will protest against them too.”

The party is also firm on its stand of stalling the release of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. Both these big-ticket movies star Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan respectively.

Mr Khopar demanded action against Pakistani artistes, alleging that they come to work in India on tourist visas. “This is not the right time to shake hands with Pakistan. They (Pakistani artistes) don’t come on work visa but tourist visas. Action should be taken against them,” he said.
