It has been seven years and even now people identify her as Preeti. The actress could have easily cashed in on her fame, but she wanted to take it slow. Sagarika says that she is very particular about signing films as she doesn’t want to do anything that she wouldn’t be proud of later. She has done films such as Fox, Miley Naa Miley Hum and Rush besides a Marathi and a Punjabi film, which were hits. However, very recently she lost out on a big offer from a leading banner.
A source told this paper, “The makers of Azhar got in touch with Sagarika about Sangeeta Bijlani’s role in the film. She read the part and it was all going well. In fact, everyone was convinced that she is the best person to play the role. Sangeeta and Sagarika share a certain amount of physical resemblance. Also, the makers felt that Sagarika’s royal background added to the credibility of her essaying the character of a well-heeled, classy woman like Sangeeta. Add to that, she has already worked with Emraan Hashmi (who plays Azhar) in Rush and they share a good comfort level.
So then went wrong The source added, “After a lot of talk between Sagarika and the makers, it simply faded away. She was looking forward to the role and had already started on her basic research. But for some reason the makers decided to rope in Nargis Fakhri for the part.”
