Radhika Apte turns down Bhavesh Joshi for lack of meaty role

Vikramaditya Motwane’s much delayed project Bhavesh Joshi hasn’t had the smoothest run so far. The uncertainty over the film’s male lead delayed it for the longest time, until the director finally decided to cast Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor in it. Before junior Kapoor, it was Imran Khan, then Ranveer Singh and then Sidharth Malhotra who turned down the offer to be part of the film citing various different reasons.

As it turns out, the casting jinx isn’t over yet as casting the female actor isn’t exactly cakewalk for the director either. Actress Radhika Apte from what we hear, was approached to play a part in the film, but turned down the offer, apparently because it was a rather short role, not giving the actress enough screen space.

The actress who has been known to give some impressive performances in her last few films, allegedly turned down the role because she didn’t think it was meaty enough.

When contacted, director Motwane confirmed that she wasn’t doing the film. “Radhika Apte hasn’t signed Bhavesh Joshi and she is not doing the film,” he said.

We tried to get in touch with Radhika, but neither she, nor her spokesperson responded to our phone calls.
