One Night Stand’s debutant actress Nyra Banerjee has been getting much fame for her role alongside Tanuj Virwani and Sunny Leone. Now, we hear that Nyra has worked as an assistant director on Azhar, working along with director Tony D’Souza. Interestingly, Tony is the husband of One Night Stand director Jasmine D’souza.
When we spoke to Nyra, she sounded thrilled to have been behind the scenes on Azhar’s sets. “After finishing shooting for One Night Stand, I had enough time till the release, even though my dubbing was still left. Meanwhile, Tony sir was directing Azhar last year. I requested he let me work with him so I could understand the deeper side of filmmaking and the technicalities behind the camera. When I read the script and discussed it with him, I understood what a powerful scene was and which scenes could be avoided. I wanted to assist in the film mainly to understand how senior actors like Emraan Hashmi and Kunal Roy Kapoor fleshed out their unique characters. I am probably the only actress to work as an AD while still being an actress.”
It wasn’t all work and no play for Nyra, who thoroughly enjoyed the more fun aspects of being on a film set. “It was amazing to learn some cricket antics from Azharuddin sir and his son Abbas. I think I’m lucky to have visited beautiful locales in London and relished Hyderabadi cuisines during the shoot. The home-cooked Hyderabadi biryani that came from Azharuddin sir’s house has been quite a treat,” she added
