Married to their work

After being paired with one another in Sanam Re, Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat will be soon seen together in Junooniyat. And such is their on-screen chemistry that people are beginning to wonder if the two are married in real life.

Says Yami, “It is the on-screen chemistry which matters to us actors. The success of a love story is marked by a simple formula — I play Suhani while Pulkit plays Jahan. If Suhani fails to give her best performance, then Jahan will also fail. But if Suhani performs to the best of her ability then obviously Jahan too will be successful. Simply put, if we do our best, our chemistry will look real.”

Pulkit adds, “For ages people had thought that Sita and Ram (in the television serial) were a real couple and fans would try to seek their blessings. I am happy we have been able to successfully portray our characters so well that our fans feel that we are married. All I would like to tell my fans is that we are married to our work.”

Since Junooniyat has an Army backdrop, we asked Yami what she could do for the defence personnel. “Through my work — be it music, dance or whatever way, I can entertain them.”

Pulkit meanwhile adds, “There is nothing I can do for them. They allow us to sleep without any fear while they are ready to take the bullets. I respect them for their selfless deeds. I would take this opportunity to say a big ‘thank you’ to them.”
