Let the Holi good times roll
What is Holi without a couple of Rang Barase and Balam Pichkari renditions Or for that matter Holi khele Raghuveera or Do me a favour, let’s play Holi Not very colourful, we’d say.

What is Holi without a couple of Rang Barase and Balam Pichkari renditions Or for that matter Holi khele Raghuveera or Do me a favour, let’s play Holi Not very colourful, we’d say. We spoke to a host of tinsel townies to see how they are spreading the hues off-screen, on one of the country’s most-loved festivals and what they’re dancing to, while doing so.
Vidya Balan I’m shooting for K2 at the moment, so unfortunately I’m not going to be celebrating Holi, unless we end up doing something on the set. I have lovely childhood memories of Holi. I remember my father used to fill balloons with water and we would tie them up. This used to start a few days before Holi — the excitement and fun! As we grew up, it became less about the balloons but more about the colour, dancing and having a merry time.
Deepika Padukone Holi is obviously about colour for me, but it is also a festival where you can just be yourself! Holi is a festival that allows us to really express ourselves through celebration. Sometimes we need to let go of our inhibitions and reconnect with friends. And what better occasion to do this than Holi! My earliest memory of Holi is getting together with my friends and throwing water balloons filled with colour at each other. We would wake up as early as possible and get dressed for the day. My friends and I would get together, size up each other’s colour inventory. This year I will be shooting for The Return Of Xander Cage. It’s a fun team. We are family and we will definitely try and celebrate together.
Shraddha Kapoor This year I will have one off day from my OK Jaanu schedule, so I will try and spend some time with family. One stand out Holi memory was Mr Bachchan’s Holi party that my parents took me to. It was very memorable. My favourite Holi song currently is Balam pichkari.
Kriti Sanon I love the festival and will definitely play Holi with lots of gulaal and love, which will be followed by a good sleep, to detox myself. Also, I think given the water situation in the country, people should switch to playing Holi with gulaal instead of water. I am definitely going to do my bit this Holi, what about you
Lauren Gottlieb I love the atmosphere created during Indian festivities and Holi is a beautiful festival. I played in India last year and it felt so good to let lose and have fun with my bunch of friends. But I think it’s the need of the hour to have a dry Holi without resorting to watery celebrations.
Purab Kohli I usually celebrate Holi with friends drinking bhang and playing with water and colours but last year I went on a pilgrimage during Holi to the north east. It was such a beautiful experience that I’m planning to go again this year.
Raveena Tandon How I love all the Indian festivals! We don’t waste time in mourning. I’ve no plans for Holi. This year, it is very special as my children will be brand ambassadors for an animal welfare organisation and the press conference will be held on the Holi day.
Ali Fazal My plan for Holi is to try and keep water out. But Holi is a day when someone or the other finds you and splashes you up. In the midst of so much agitation in the country, I like to think the festival will soothen the heat. I will be in Mumbai celebrating with some close friends of mine.
Taapsee Pannu I am shooting in Delhi, so we are taking an off on Holi. I plan to bring in Holi with the crew of my next film Pink. We plan to have a good feast together with some dance and music.
Mandana Karimi Holi is a celebration of good over evil and love. I’m going to a Holi party and will play with organic dry colours. There will be family and friends and lots of naach-gaana and khaana. Save water, as there isn’t enough for some to even drink. Have a colourful and dry Holi.
