Kiara Advani made a promising start in Kabir Sadanand’s Fugly in 2014, but the movie sank at the box office. Kiara, however, seems to be ready for a fresh start; she will soon be seen playing M.S. Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi, in the upcoming biopic, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story.

The actress justifies her two-year absence from the silver screen. She says, “Post Fugly, I chose not to sign just about anything that came my way, and decided to wait for the right opportunity. The wait was worth it! M.S. Dhoni The Untold Story is a very important film on a living icon.”

Kiara elaborates on her role in the film. “I play Sakshi Dhoni in the movie. I believe that correct casting is half the battle one, especially in a biopic. Fortunately, my personality is similar to Sakshi’s, so I did not need to try hard. As for physical similarities, we kept the look simple and authentic, with just kohl in the eyes, like Sakshi.”

She’s all praise for Mrs Dhoni. “I met her once at a party, after many telephonic conversations, and found her to be grounded and extremely approachable, with no airs of being a star wife.”

The actress says that she’s had a wonderful time with Sushant Singh Rajput. She says, “Sushant is a very confident actor. I witnessed him get into the character of Dhoni and give it his best. He’s easy to work with and we both fed off each other’s energies in scenes. He even helped me understand my character better.”

Does Kiara look at this movie as a re-launch of sorts She confidently says, “I hope every film allows me to launch myself in a new way, so the audience can see a different side of me.” She’s also working on her next, Abbas-Mustan’s Machine. The actress reveals. “I’m super excited about this film. We’ve already shot a 60-day schedule in Georgia and have a very short schedule left in Mumbai.”

Kiara says that two-years in the industry has taught her many lessons. “I have to work with honesty, and the rest will fall into place. I won’t give any thing less than 100 per cent in whatever I do,” she signs off.
