Zahur Khayyam donates life savings to Western India Cine Employees

In a rare act of benevolence, legendary music composer Zahur Khayyam Hashmi has decided to offer his life’s earnings to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees. The composer, along with his wife Jagjit Kaur, made an official announcement recently stating that their money will go towards the support of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes. The Khayyam Jagjeet Kaur Charitable Trust will make a yearly contribution towards the cause. After issuing the first cheque from the trust, Khayyam said, “The trust and this activity will continue helping and it will never stop. It will financially help all our brothers who are associated with the movies. By god’s grace, I have been given enough, and now I am giving back. It is actually my wife’s idea. This will be a really big trust. Our interest on our earnings worth Rs 10 crores will continue to fund the trust every year. Even after we are gone, our property and jewellery will go towards the cause.”
