Karan’s Shuddhi not happening anytime soon
Much has been speculated about the fate of Karan Johar’s troubled project Shuddhi. First, it was in the news for continuous changing star cast. And then once that was finalised, there was uncertainty about its filming. For a long time, not much was heard about the project and now according to close sources, there are strong chances that the project has been shelved altogether. “Karan Malhotra has kept the script aside and it is unlikely that he will make the film anytime soon,” says a source close to the director. “As of today, the film is not even discussed in the meetings at the Dharma office. In fact, Malhotra is developing another script under the same banner,” the source adds.
Soon after the project was first announced, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were taken on board, however, eventually they opted out of it. Last year, during a group interview for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan accidentally confirmed his name for the project. However, he too opted out. The last we heard, Karan had signed his favourite students Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt for the same. But later in an interview, Varun too hinted that the film might not happen soon for him as he had pending projects in hand. A couple of months ago, during a press conference to celebrate the success of Kapoor & Sons, when KJo was asked about Shuddhi being shelved, he called off the press meet midway. The series of events only serves to add more fuel to the rumours about the film being put on hold indefinitely.
