How did you join Bollywood

I was a model for the longest time and hence I got bored of it. Later I also did few commercials. I gave my audition for ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ and luckily I got the film. When ‘Jugni’ came to me, I feel in love with it. It is very close to me and this is one film I am really proud of.

You debuted with ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ in 2012 Why such a long wait for another film

Being a Bihari, it helped me to perform in ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’. Later I joined theatre with Neeraj Kabi and didn’t do any movie for a year. The producer of ‘Jugni’, Shefali Bhushan, is a good friend of Neeraj and she saw my play and liked it. Shefali offered me the role of ‘Preeto’ and I was on board.

How did you prepare for the role of a Sardani in ‘Jugni’

I have learned so many Punjabi gaalis. (Laughs). Initially when I was offered the role I was sceptical but later I managed to pull it off. It is a multi-layered role but very evolved. How was the experience working with your co-actors Sugandha and Siddhant

Sugandha is like fire. It was great working with her. Siddhant is fun to be around. On the sets, he used to be bullied by everyone since he is a newcomer.

What are your next projects

I am doing a film in Maithli language, named ‘Mithla Makhan’ which is a tribute to 50 years of Maithli cinema. I am also doing ‘Moonlight Café’ where I am playing a chef.
