I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, says Momal Sheikh

After an array of Pakistani stars making a name for themselves in Bollywood, the latest to join the bandwagon is Pakistani TV star Momal Sheikh. A popular face on the other side of the border, Momal will soon be sharing screen space with Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Shergill and Diana Penty in the upcoming multi-starrer, Happy Bhaag Jayegi.

While moving between industries can be a tough challenge, Momal says that she absolutely enjoys being a part of Bollywood. “It feels amazing. I am on top of the world,” says Momal, who adds that the welcome she has been given in the country has been amazing. “I really enjoyed talking to the Indian press. Initially, I was a little nervous since India is not my home ground, but people have loved me here. My co-stars, director and producers made me feel at home here.”

Telling us about her three male co-stars, Momal says, “All three are fun in their own way. Abhay is a gem of a person and he is a very fine actor. Ali, on the other hand is a cool guy. He fills the sets with his jokes and laughter. Jimmy too was very helpful, although he is quite reserved.”

Before news of her debut started going around, there were rumours that she was supposed to make her debut in Welcome Back. Talking about why she couldn’t take it up, she says, “Yes, Welcome Back was offered to me and I wanted to do it, but I was pregnant at that time so I couldn’t be the part of the film.”

So how did she bag Happy Momal says, “My father Javed Sheikh is a part of the project. Incidentally, the makers were looking for a Pakistani actress and they chanced upon me, Javed Sheikh’s daughter. I loved the script and was immediately signed on.”

Telling us about her role in the film, Momal says, “I am playing a Pakistani girl who is engaged to her childhood love Abhay Deol. She tries to give him whatever he wants in life. It is an interesting role as she gets to decide who Happy will marry in the end.

Now that she is in the industry, Momal says she would really like to work with the Khans. She says, “I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh and Salman. I would love to do films with them. Funnily, in one of my interviews, I casually mentioned Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, as I like them too and now people are cooking up stories (laughs).
