Even as the Hrithik-Kangana battle shows no signs of drawing to an end in the immediate future, a few Bollywood celebrities have finally ended their silence on the matter. For the longest time, they remained tight-lipped and even now, a significant number of them still are. But among those who have come forward and spoken about it is Akshay Kumar, who incidentally lives in the same building as Hrithik Roshan, Big B, Viya Balan and Sonam Kapoor.

Akshay said, “The war is on not in Bollywood — it’s in fact, on in my building itself. All I want is for it to end and things to get resolved peacefully. This should not go on, it needs to stop now. Let’s hope the issues get sorted out soon.” The actor spoke on the matter at the launch of a song from his upcoming film Housefull 3. Abhishek Bachchan, who was also present at the event said, didn’t say much. But his views were clear when he said, “I agree with what Akshay said on the matter.”

His father Amitabh Bachchan was slightly more vocal than that. When the topic came up at the trailer launch of TE3N, Amitabh said, “One cannot know the behaviour of a person, or what he or she is going through, by sitting beside them... But I appreciate that women are empowered, and they are standing on their feet. We’ve always believed that women should have their own strength. Fifty per cent of the nation’s population constitute women. The society needs to value their contribution and importance.”

Vidya Balan, who was also at the launch, expressed her admiration for Kangana. She said, “I really think it is none of my business to be judging anyone but I have the greatest admiration for Kangana because she is standing up for herself. I think that is very creditable because as women we find it very easy to stand up for other people, our family members, children, husbands, parents but we rarely stand up for ourselves. She (Kangana) is standing up for herself, so kudos to her and more power to her for that.”

Sonam Kapoor too appears to be adding to the number of Kangana supporters. The actress, who had filmed a music video with Hrithik Roshan not too long ago, said in a recent interview, “I saw Kangana’s interview and I think she is pretty cool. But I don’t know what was going on between Hrithik and her. What had happened between two people, nobody will ever know as well as they themselves do.” Speaking of Hrithik, she added, “I have grown up with Hrithik and I know the kind of person he is. He is an incredible human being; he is sensitive, charitable and kind. I have worked with him. When you grow up with someone, you think the best of them. Having said that, women are persecuted a lot in this country. So as a woman, I would want to support another woman. But as I said, Hrithik is a friend of mine and me being a feminist and a woman, I am torn. I wish I could form a clear opinion on this, since I am known to be opinionated, but I honestly don’t know what else to say,” she said.
