Here’s how the star dropped 13 kilos in just three weeks.

Aamir Khan stunned fans and the media with his drastic 13kg weight loss on his 51st birthday. The star dropped a whopping 13 kilos in just three weeks during his US visit. When bewildered journalists asked him how it was possible, he gave all the credit to his eat, sleep and six-hour workout regime. At his birthday party he also mentioned that he had to lose another 12 kilos to get his ripped Ghajini body back. “For Dangal initially I had gained weight, up to 95 kgs. The portions where I was fat have been completed, so I’ve started reducing and am at 82 kgs. Now I have to shed 12 more kgs, which means I have reached the half-way mark,” he had said.

So here’s what actually happened. Aamir took the road less travelled (quite literally) and enrolled for a workout programme in Arizona, in the US. The star adopted a strict workout regime that had him going on 8-mile walks in the morning, weight training in the afternoon and swimming in the evening. Aamir had said, “For the last three weeks I was in the US to focus on weight loss. I was working out in different forms and doing six to seven hours of exercises a day. I’ve been trekking, mountain biking, playing tennis, swimming...”

For three weeks, the actor followed a diligent timetable that allotted slots for exercise, meals, recreation, training and also nap time. The actor, who has been sporting a handlebar moustache, is also trying out different looks for his character. “Right now, I am transforming my look. So I don’t know what the final look will be like. I am growing my hair and beard but the final look will be decided a week before the shooting,” he added. Heavy duty 6 am: The actor began his day with an eight mile walk or a 5-hour up-hill hike When he was not out hiking, he played tennis in the lawns 12.00 pm: Lunch, high on protein, usually comprising fish 1-2 am: Weight training followed by ‘wet workouts’ for another hour 4 pm: Indoor cycling and tennis match 5-6 pm: Swimming 7 pm: Dinner 8 pm: Bed time
