We talk to Dylan Sprayberry, who plays Liam Dunbar in the series, about what his journey on the show has been like.
Having auditioned for Teen Wolf but rejected for being too young, the actor joined the cast in the fourth season in a completely new role. He tells us, “It is very flattering when someone respects your work and comes back for you, when the right role or project presents itself. When one door closes, another door opens!”
He says playing his character, Liam, who suffers from sudden rage and hurts his friends and family in the process, was not easy — “I had to find different methods and tricks of making myself very angry as a way to cover up Liam’s pain inside. The response has been great. I think many people can relate to the character.”
When asked if he can relate to his on-screen counterpart, he laughs and says, “In every character I take on, there has to be some of myself in order for it to feel real.”
It is also well-known that Dylan has been a renowned child artiste and acted in several movies. He talks about his journey, “It’s been a lot of hard work and persistence. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to follow my dreams. Playing a young Superman in Man of Steel changed my life. Once I got to work on that movie, I could see my future as the kind of actor I always wanted to be.”
A team of young talented actors must have its pros and cons He responds, “I couldn’t have asked for a better cast. We are one big happy family and spend a lot of time together, both on and off set.”
