Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ministry of Human Rights on Wednesday presented a report in the National Assembly revealing 17862 cases of child abuse that have been reported in the country since 2013.

The federal agency partnered with a non-profit organisation called Sahil, which works on children rights and their protection against sexual abuse.

The document said that the ministry had requested all provincial home departments “to furnish the requisite information, but their response is still awaited.”

According to the data, a total of 112 cases were decided upon where the accused were convicted. Among those, death sentences were handed out in only 25 cases.
