The party announced that Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz have been elected as members of the Central Executive Committee and Central Working Committee.

Islamabad: Ousted Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and nephew have been elected to the top decision-making bodies of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).

The party announced that Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz have been elected as members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and Central Working Committee (CWC).

The 27-member CEC includes Raja Zafarul Haq, PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Parvez Rasheed, Khawaja Mohammed Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Saad Rafique and Marriyum Nawaz.

Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, Balochistan CM Sanaullah Zehri, Pakistan-administrated Kashmir PM Raja Farooq Haider Khan and Gilgit-Baltistan CM Hafiz Hafeez Hafeezur Rehman are also part of CEC.

The CWC has 109 leaders under the chairmanship of Raja Zafarul Haq. Amongst the significant leaders in CWC include secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, deputy secretary general Ahsan Ibqal, secretary finance Parvez Rasheed, senior vice-presidents Sardar Yaqoob Nasir and Nawabzada Changaiz Mari and vice president Saleem Zia.
