Pakistan Supreme Court rejects ISI report on sit-in

The judge asked who will be responsible for the loss of `146m estimated by the interior ministry.

During the hearing headed by justice Qazi Faiz Essa, the court expressed reservations on the report and directed to resubmit it.

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Thursday rejected Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)’s new report on sit-in staged by Tehrik-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA) at the Faizabad Interchange that crippled life in Islamabad for 22 days before ending last Monday.

During the hearing headed by justice Qazi Faiz Essa, the court expressed reservations on the report and directed to resubmit it.

The judge remarked: “The story has not ended yet as sit-ins are still carrying on in parts of country.”

The government told the court a report had been received in which nothing about human causalities was mentioned. He said the report stated that 1122 cars were badly damaged. The judge asked who will be responsible for the loss of `146m estimated by the interior ministry.
