Holland’s Kiki Bertens celebrates her 6-2, 6-2 win over Mariana Duque-Marino of Colombia in the Nuremberg WTA final at Nuremberg in Germany.

French Open champion Stan Wawrinka defeated Lukas Rosol 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 on Friday to reach the final of the Geneva Open — just days before they meet in the first round at Roland Garros.

Wawrinka will face former US Open champion Marin Cilic in Saturday’s final after the Croatian edged David Ferrer 7-5, 7-5. “Once we got into the rallies I was able to gain the upper hand by hitting a heavier ball, so that was tough for him,” said top seed Wawrinka of Czech opponent Rosol.

“I was happy with my third set. I found my mark in some rallies even if he was looking for get to net or close out points quickly.”

Meanwhile, in Nice, France, German 19-year-old Alexander Zverev reached his first ATP final by seeing off experienced Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at the Nice claycourt tournament.

Zverev will face Austrian top seed and close friend Dominic Thiem in the final.

Bertens bags nuremberg crown Dutch qualifier Kiki Bertens claimed a straight-sets victory over Colombia’s Mariana Duque-Marino to win the Nuremburg clay court WTA final on Saturday.

Ranked 89th in the world, the 24-year-old Bertens beat the Colombian in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 for just her second career WTA title after previously winning in Fez in 2012.

The spotlight was fixed firmly on Bertens last month at the Fed Cup where she won her two singles rubbers over French pair Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

The towering Dutch player’s focus will now turn to the French Open which begins on Sunday at Roland Garros in Paris.

Bertens has been drawn against Germany’s world number three and Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber in the first round of the year’s second Grand Slam.
