Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea advanced to the quarter-finals of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters clay-court tennis tournament after getting the better of Robert Lindstedt and Alexander Peya in straight sets in Monaco on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded Indo-Romanian combination broke their opponents’ serve four times and fired four aces to beat their rivals in straight sets 7-5, 7-5 during a Round of 16 encounter that lasted an hour and 27 minutes on Wednesday.

Bopanna and Mergea will next take on fourt- seeded pair of British-Brazilian pairing Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares.

Earlier, in the opening round of the tournament earlier, Bopanna and Mergea had gotten a bye.
