British star Andy Murray won his singles and doubles ties as Singapore Slammers overpowered table toppers Micromax Indian Aces 27-16 on the final day of the Dubai leg of the International Premier Tennis League on Thursday.

It was the Slammers’ second consecutive win in as many days, bringing an end to the Aces’ five victories on the trot with the final leg of the year to be played in Singapore.

Murray combined with Marcelo Melo to cruise to a 6-4 win over Ivan Dodig and Bernard Tomic, before he outplayed Tomic 6-1 in the singles.

“The Aces have pretty much qualified but for us it’s about moving ahead of the rest and securing the no. 2 spot. The team’s played really well and I loved the team atmosphere,” Murray said.

Earlier, the Aces suffered a setback ahead of the opening set as player-coach Fabrice Santoro was forced to withdraw from the legends singles with an injury, thus giving the Slammers a 6-0 victory.

Agnieszka Radwanska secured the only win for the Indian Aces seeing off young Belinda Bencic 6-3 in the women’s singles.

The mixed doubles tie between Sania Mirza/Rohan Bopanna and Karolina Pliskova/Dustin Brown went down to the wire, before the Aces won the shoot-out 6-5.
