How do you create a product that catches your fancy, yet justifies a high price point LG’s world-first modular smartphone seems to be the answer.

The LG G5 allows you to plug and play different hardware units — like the LG Cam Plus, a camera module that converts the phone into a camera with dedicated buttons for power, shutter, record and zoom. This is attached by removing the bottom bezel of the G5. Other modules include a VR goggle, wide angle camera and HD audio player, which can be attached to the device without removing the bezel.

The G5 features a thin, metal uni-body. The 5.3-inch screen is neat with a 554 ppi, 2560x1440 pixel quad HD IPS quantum display. The phone offers two cameras at the rear, one with 8 MP resolution and a standard 78-degree lens and another with 16 MP resolution and a 135-degree wide angle lens. The front camera comes with 8 MP resolution.

The G5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 GB RAM. The device comes with 32 GB internal storage, and allows a massive 2 TB storage via micro SD. Such features require a powerful battery, but LG has only 2,800mAh to offer.

The LG G5 is priced at Rs 52,990, which does not include module options. Considering the fact that modularity is a refreshing change, we think this one will find its fans.
