What’s a game without cheat codes It didn’t take long for developers to break down Pokemon Go’s inner-workings and reveal some of its secrets.

They aren’t exactly hacking the servers but simply reverse-engineering the HTTPS requests the app receives from the game’s servers. For instance, spawn points are being revealed which can easily be used to create maps of nearby Pokemons and other similar game items.

Numerous tutorials on Reddit can be found, most of which are centred on Python scripts. One such tutorial explains how one can create their own Google Map with all the nearby Pokemons. In fact, there are standalone Mac, Linux and Windows desktop apps and CLI tools that can be used to harvest data about Pokemon spawn points.

A rather ambitious creation of worldwide map of all Pokemons aims to bring all ‘cheaters’ together also seems to be taking place.
