AR aims to bring image sensing technologies to consumer products

Mumbai: Amazon has always been on the forefront of technology and the company has no plans of slowing down in the near future. The company is now working on a technology to incorporate Augmented Reality (AR) in living room environments utilisng light beams, according to recent patents granted to the company.

According to an article on Forbes, the Washinton-based tech company has set up a collection of devices at their Lab26 facility. The company, like many other tech vanguards, are devising news ways to boost AR.

It seems Amazon don’t want to utilise any sort of headgear for AR. One of the patents illustrates a way how light beams can be used to display AR visualisations in a room.

Another patent focuses on a way of tracking objects in a surrounding environment for seamless gesture interaction. This will allow individuals to dictate AR visualisations using gestures.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has continually shown interest in AR, which also fetured in the company’s not-so-popular Firephone. However, with the new approved patents, Amazon might be looking to greatly enhance how AR technology is used today.
