In what comes as surprising news, Twitter has removed its app from the WatchOS platform. The removal of the app comes without any notice to the users or Apple. The removal happened after the latest update was rolled out for iOS.

The latest update on iOS fixed a bug that prevented users to upload high-resolution pictures. However, after the update was downloaded, it removed the twitter app from Apple Watch as reported by some users. Twitter hasn’t cited any reason for the removal of the app.

The company also hasn’t said anything about the duration of this sudden disappearance of the app from the watch platform. There’s also no information as to when users can expect the app back on the WatchOS platform. Even the iTunes App Store page shows no mention of the Twitter app’s compatibility with any version of WatchOS.

However, Twitter gave a statement to TechCrunch about the issue – “We heard from people that notifications were the most helpful part of the Apple Watch Twitter experience. With this, we are focusing on supporting more robust, media-rich notifications. We are committed to providing the very best Twitter experience on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Watch, and we’ll continue to iterate and improve our apps across all platforms,” said Dan Jackson, a Twitter spokesperson.

If you have been using the Twitter app on your Apple Watch for a while, then there’s no way as of now to use Twitter on your Apple watch. Keep an eye for all updates related to the issue.
