iPhone 8 to support Enhanced Voice Services on supported carriers

The Asian Age With Agency Inputs

Technology, Mobiles & Tabs

The iPhone 8 models will be able to provide high quality voice calls on LTE network.

Of course, this depends on whether your network provider or Internet Service Provider (ISP) supports the technology or not.

Apple is making the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in India for sale from tomorrow and while these may not be as attractive as the cutting-edge iPhone X due to go on sale in November, they are still brimming with the latest technology under the hood. If you are going to spend your money on the new iPhone 8 models, then you will be happy to know that these support Enhanced Voice Service (EVS).

Up until now, iPhones have been supporting HD voice calls over the Internet. With the iPhone 8 generation, Apple has added support for the EVS, which will use LTE connection to enhance voice calls, making calls clearer than before. Of course, this depends on whether your network provider or Internet Service Provider (ISP) supports the technology or not.

The discovery was made by Engadget after an interview with Takashi Tanaka who claimed that the iPhone 8 series has voice sound codec ‘EVS’ function. This is certainly good news for those who have been planning to get the iPhone 8 but were worried about the future proofing of the device.
