The latest Vivo flagship comes with superior imaging capabilities.

The front camera uses artificial intelligence algorithms to beautify your face in real-time.

Summer is officially here and in India, it means two things - summer holidays and the Indian Premier League. Both mean you spend much of your time outside your home, either exploring new places or cheering for your favourite T-20 team, providing ample opportunities for clicking those special pics that you will cherish, at least till next summer. Of course, they open up opportunities for low-light photographs for your after-work indulgences. Vivo, primary sponsor of the IPL, has launched its flagship device -- the Vivo V9 -- a few days before the sporting event begins. The device has selfie performance at its core along with a bunch of exciting features that make it standout in the league of mid-range smart phones in India.

Picture perfect

A 6.3-inch phone, the V9 comes with a 19:9 full view IPS display, along with a 16MP + 5MP dual rear camera and a 24MP selfie camera. While the 16MP clicker captures hi-res, clear images, the 5MP camera highlights the depth effect of your pictures. The device also lets you change the focus of your pictures even after you've clicked them. The 'Shot Refocus' feature lets you change the complete look and feel of your image, letting you add Bokeh effects, blur your background, change filters, and more.

Vivo claims that the front camera uses artificial intelligence algorithms to beautify your face in real-time and make them look sharper and clearer. It also comes with automatic gender recognition, face beauty video calling, and portrait lighting effects to make even low-light images look bright. Then there are the jazzy AR stickers that add cool and funny accessories to your face, to make yourself look anything from scary to hilarious!

Small but big

Often in flagship smart phones, it is the small things that often make a big difference. For instance, the Vivo V9 comes with two separate SIM trays, one for each SIM and one with a micro SD slot. Also, the V9 has an interesting feature that extends the face recognition function. If your phone rings and you simply look into the screen, the ringer volume automatically goes down. This smart low volume feature ensures that people around you aren't disturbed with your choice of ringtones!

Powered by the Snapdragon 626 processor, the Vivo V9 comes in a 4GB + 64GB memory configuration, with a 3260mAh battery, and weighs just about 150g. The back panel houses the camera module seamlessly into the design making it look sleek and shiny. The V9 is available in black, gold and blue colours, and is priced at Rs 22,990. For a device that takes camera performance seriously, and adds interesting bells and whistles, it is definitely a value-for-money smart phone to have. The V9 is currently available for pre-booking.
