Samsung confirms Galaxy Fold launch coming soon; India could be first

Samsung will launch the Galaxy Fold in select markets starting as soon as September with India tipped to be the first.

Samsung has also been hard at work to improve the overall Galaxy Fold user experience.
  • The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.
  • Galaxy Fold features additional reinforcements to better protect the device from external particles while maintaining its signature foldable experience:
  • The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened with newly added protection caps.
  • Additional metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display have been included to reinforce the protection of the display.
  • The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.
  • After months of waiting, the news the entire world has been waiting for has finally arrived. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Fold has passed its aggressive testing and will be launched in select markets starting from September 2019.

    As per the release notes, Samsung states that it has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests to validate the changes we made. These design and construction improvements include:

    • The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.

    Apart from the aforementioned improvements, Samsung has also been hard at work to improve the overall Galaxy Fold user experience. They have also optimized more apps and services for its foldable UX. Samsung is conducting final product tests to make Galaxy Fold available to consumers starting from September in select markets. Availability details will be shared as we get closer to the launch.

    As per a related report by SAMmobile, the Galaxy Fold’s initial release will include US, South Korea, Germany, France, UK and India.  This information is based on firmware files for the foldable handset’s units. Prior to the Galaxy Fold farce, Samsung was developing localized versions for more markets; however, it appears to have been put on hold for now.
