Apple iPhone XR at just Rs 37,990 in India?

Popular retailer Croma advertising Apple's current LCD flagship at unbeatable price; but is it true?

Update: 2019-07-19 04:38 GMT
The iPhone XR is the first handset since the iPhone 5C to be launched in a wide range of colour options.

The Amazon Prime Day sale and Flipkart’s Big Shopping Days initiative has just come to an end. During these sales, the Apple iPhone XR was sold at a mere Rs 49,990 for the 64GB variant on Amazon India while the iPhone X was discounted at Rs 59,990. During this auspicious sale period, and not to be outdone, Croma took its advertising on Instagram a bit further by claiming that they were selling the iPhone XR at Rs 37,990 — which by the way is completely off the mark and is what the industry terms as false advertising.

iPhone XR Croma

Over the course of the day on June 18, 2019, Croma advertised this unbelievable price prompting one to believe that they were selling the iPhone XR at Rs 12,000 less than what even Amazon had to offer. However, when going to the ‘Shop now’ option, the lowest price of the iPhone XR was listed at Rs 59,990 — which is pretty much no discount at all, since this is the going rate of the iPhone XR since some time. Whatever the case may be, we warn you not to fall for this clickbait offer as it simply doesn’t exist.

The iPhone XR has been hugely popular in India as it is competitively priced in comparison to Android rivals. Even though it doesn’t come with the coveted OLED display as seen on the iPhone XS and XS Max, the display is still one of the best in the industry. With the iPhone XR, Apple is providing you with a ticket to experience its unbeatable Face ID technology that was introduced with the iPhone X. This feature is said to be way more secure than Touch ID and very few Android rivals can match it.

In terms of optics, the iPhone XR comes with a single 12MP rear sensor that’s arguably one of the best in the world. The front facing TrueDepth camera, rated at 7MP is a capable selfie snapper which produces excellent results. Under the hood, Apple has added an A12 Bionic processor that matches those found on the higher-end variants.

Overall, this is a great handset to own; but at RS 37,990, it isn’t yet available.
