Earlier this year CAD renders of the OnePlus 7 had surfaced showing off the upcoming handset with its elevated pop-up camera. Now, we are greeted with some new images along with a video of the same handset; but this time around we see the handset from all angles, but strangely without its elevated camera.

The new images from @OnLeaks show us the OnePlus 7 comes with the same old design that was present on the OnePlus 6T. In the new images, we can see that the OnePlus 7 retains the tried and tested design of the previous generation handset complete with a waterdrop notch. Also, the triple camera set up on the rear has been shelved and it will come with a dual camera system on the rear. This model will in all likelihood have bumped up internals while keeping the exterior identical; a move that Apple has been deploying for quite a few years.

It is now believed that the OnePlus 7 with the pop-up selfie cam and triple rear shooters will be limited to the OnePlus 7 Pro and this should be the flagship model amongst the two. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had taken to Twitter stating that he will share details about the new handset on April 17, 2019. This should shed some light as to when the handset will be launched and it could confirm the May 14 unveiling date.

If these leaked renders are true then it seems kind of lazy from OnePlus as they will be retaining the same design as their previous generation model. This could potentially impact sales of its upcoming lower-end model, the OnePlus 7.

We also feel that the OnePlus 7 Pro should come with a superior design as it’s the same old design philosophy that’s being implemented by OPPO and Vivo. The notchless display with the pop-up camera works for most Chinese smartphone manufacturers; however, if the brand wants to create maintain its dominance and retain its fans, it should employ an altered design similar to what Samsung did with the cut-out display.

With that being said, these opinions are merely based on the leaked CAD renders and hopefully OnePlus will wow us when they announce the OnePlus 7.
