Rumours suggest ASUS’ midranger will bring a triple camera setup.

There’s no other information related to the phone yet.

ASUS has had a successful inning this year in the budget midrange segment with the out-of-the-box Zenfone Max Pro M1. The handset offered exceptional value for money with a highly compelling package — a large 5000mAh battery, an efficient Snapdragon 636 SoC and a stock Android interface. However, the phone suffered in the optics department and it seems that ASUS is gearing up to fix that with a brand new successor.

Renowned tipster Roland Quandt has come up with information regarding the successor to the Max Pro M1. Expected to be called the Zenfone Max Pro M2, the upcoming budget midrange handset is rumoured to come with a triple camera setup at the rear. The handset carries a codename of ZB634KL. There’s no other information related to the phone yet.

The Max Pro M1 had a rather average camera performance and if the rumour is to be believed, then ASUS could be focussing highly on the optics this time. The triple camera setup could be more akin to the one found on the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), i.e. a standard lens + wide angle lens + depth sensor.

For the rest of the smartphone, ASUS could offer a modern 19:9 notched display alongside a USB-C port. Since the 5000mAh battery is one of the major highlights of the current model, ASUS could either be retaining it or going ahead with an even bigger capacity. It could launch with Android Pie on board. We could also expect ASUS to come with a glass-metal combo construction on the device.
