Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Y2 in India and the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has placed its focus on the 16MP AI-powered front-facing selfies camera.

Xiaomi claims that the Redmi Y2 captures great photos in low light with its 16MP AI-powered front-facing camera. Redmi Y2 offers portrait selfies and digital makeovers with Beautify 4.0, a software that simulates makeup. The Redmi Y2 also has Face unlock, a feature that unlocks the phone using one’s facial details.

Xiaomi has added a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and the Redmi Y2 comes as two variants. A 3GB RAM along with 32GB ROM and a 4GB version with 64GB ROM. It runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.

The screen used here is a 5.99-inch HD+ with an 18:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. Redmi Y2 has a dual rear camera is rated at 12MP for the primary sensor and 5MP for the secondary sensor. The smartphone comes with a 3080mAh battery to keep it powered on the whole day.

The Redmi Y2 will be available in colours such as Dark Grey, Gold and Rose Gold. In India, the handset will be priced at Rs 11,999 for the base model and Rs 12,999 for the higher end version.
